Chrysler announced that they will no longer lease vehicles as of August 1, 2008. I guess the company is losing money when they get trucks and SUV's turned back in at the end of the lease because they aren't worth what they used to be. So as a result, they are doing away with leases. We don't do that many leases here in Spokane...but it's still a tool that is no longer in the tool box. HOWEVER, there is something else Chrysler is putting their money into.
Please tune in tomorrow and you'll know what it is!

THANK YOU SPOKANE! (Attempt #2)
Last night....LATE last night...I wrote this LONG blog about the weekend, the tent sale, and even getting personal by writing about my wife and expecting our 2nd child.....and I go to push "Publish Post" and the computer freezes on me. I about threw the computer out the window!!! I was so upset last night that I just had to turn off the computer and start a new blog today. No need typing while angry...who know what I would write!!!!
So, first off, I want to thank all of the people who came out to support our fire fighters and the victims of the Valley View fire. We have a nice tidy check to donate on your behalf. We would have loved for the fire trucks to be on our lot more than they were; however, the fire at the Joel building changed our plans for us. We also send our thoughts to those businesses that were in the building and have to re-build their business. Again, thank you for making the tent sale successful and more importantly, allowing us to donate money to a very worthy cause.
On a more personal note....I think I usually just write about car stuff and things that are going on in the news....but I figure that blogs are more interesting as I show more of myself. Of course, I'm not sure if anyone reads this at all..but it's worth a try. So, my wife is expecting our 2nd child in one month. It's exciting that our baby girl is coming soon, but I know I will be very grouchy and sleep-deprived for at least a month. After seeing her go through the back aches, heartburn, swollen feet and legs.....it confirms to me that God did a good thing in having the woman have children. I have a feeling that there would be less people on this earth if men had to go through being pregnant AND childbirth. It's not easy...that's for sure. However, I am very excited that we are about to add to our family. I should post pictures but I think I have to figure out how to do that first!!!!
On to car news....rumors are flying that Chrysler will no longer lease vehicles. As news becomes available on this, I will let you know. Also, there are talks that a 2009 Cuda will be released through Chrysler. I will also update you on this as soon as I hear anything about this. How awesome would that be??????????

What takes SO long for a car deal to happen?
I don't have all the answers to that question because EVERY car deal is different. There are so many factors that play into everything....and of course, it all takes more time than we would really like. BELIEVE ME.....I hate long car deals. I wish I had a magic wand that made every car deal 30 min. or less. When the sales consultant brings up the paperwork to the "office" where I am sitting in front of a computer, I get to work right away. So many little details can be the huge stopping point. I apologize for long car deals......but I'm working as hard as I can and as fast as I can. I also have a family that I LOVE going home to!!!
I heard a radio commercial for a car dealership around here that was saying something like..."Don't you hate sitting around for hours only to get denied!" and I think they were trying to say that they could get you approved ahead of time, etc. Well, you know what??? Getting credit is harder and harder today. If you have top-tier credit...you have nothing to worry about. If you have less than stellar credit, than it's a little tricky. Each bank has so many stipulations and rules and figures that you have to meet.....we have to make sure the numbers are right and then submit them to the various banks. TRUST ME...I HATE it more than the customer when we can't get them financed. Not only have we both invested time into the deal but now I can't earn your business either!!!!!
Sitting at our dealership for a while waiting for your numbers or the final figures, etc. is NEVER intentional. Why would I want that for my customers? I am working as hard as I can...and I know my managers do as well. Thank you in advance for your patience!

BIG, HUGE TENT!!!!
As you drive by on Sprague, you'll see a HUGE tent that has been put up for our huge tent sale this weekend. I know it would be totally gratuitous to just read about a huge sale and how prices are going to be so low and all of that....HOWEVER, this even it much more than just a car sale.
For every car sold this weekend, we will donate $100 to the victims of the Valley View fire. There are a lot of families that lost everything and no matter how much the house cost, there are things that can never be replaced. However, we are hoping this fund helps a little and shows people that Spokane Chrysler cares and remembers those that were affected.
Fire trucks and police cars will be out here on Thursday and/or Friday. Please come by and say "THANK YOU!!!" to the men and women who put their lives on the line to help others. Also, kids will be able to see and tour the trucks. Lunch will be provided......
We would love for you to support this event!

Great weekend!!!
I hope all of you enjoyed the weekend weather!!! I sure did with my family after working the weekend. We had a great weekend and thank you to all of you who came in and let us earn your business. I really appreciate it and I think it's great to actually meet the customers and get to know them. It's nice to meet friends and families and extended families!!!!! I can't stress how important it is these days to build business relationships. We have a banker that we like to work with...a mortgage broker.....an attorney.....a great CPA.....and so on....I think my wife even has a good relationship with someone at Nordstrom!! I think people like to look out for each other and I know that's my case as well.......
So, get to know me and my family. It helps to know someone in the car business.....that is for sure!!!

Dodge Challenger vs. Toyota Prius
It's not that I am putting them up against each other because it would be like comparing apples to oranges....but it's interesting the buzz being created around both cars...yet, being so different.
There is a waiting list for both and if you find one, there is usually a higher price than MSRP so you don't have to wait. But, I think the similarities end there....since one is for great gas mileage and not too sexy while the other is the exact opposite.
I guess there still is a demand for certain items regardless for what the economy is doing....

Fake Chrysler parts!
I hope none of you have bought parts from Layton's Restoration. I just saw this new article from Komo News (local Seattle news station). http://www.komonews.com/news/25455904.html
It's really a shame when people try to make money in a dishonest way. It hurts everyone!!
I guess GM is having some issues lately. They are still talking about selling their Hummer brand and I read that they will be closing 4 truck and SUV plants. That is understandable. People really aren't clamoring for new trucks at this time. I am pretty sure that even though this is a tough time for the economy that when it bounces back, it will be stronger than before. However, I do have to say that GM having problems must be big news if my wife even read about it on a celebrity gossip blogging website. Do celebrity gossip readers even wonder about GM and their financial woes? Don't they care about who just broke up and who just got together instead?

Warm weather and hot fires....
My heart goes out to our neighbors that lost their homes in the Dishman Hills fire. When I stood outside the dealership and saw the smoke pouring into the sky...my heart was heavy. My wife and I have prayed for all of you that are going through this hard time; however, very thankful that no lives were lost.

Oil prices down....
....so does that mean lower prices at the pump for us? So it's down $8 in the past 2 days....but what does that mean to us? Unfortunately, I think there is no way to tell because if some Middle Eastern country comes out with a "hostile" comment or "warning" then the prices will jump up once again. No rhyme or reason to the price of oil per barrel is how I feel......

Weekend update
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July. My weekend was very relaxing and I think the 1st full 3-day weekend I did not have to work in a very, very long time. I think it has been almost 5 years since I first moved to Spokane when I had that many days off....and stayed in Spokane. It was amazing and relaxing.
My wife and I had 12 friends over from mostly Seattle, LA, and NYC. It was a great time to hang out with friends and show them beautiful spots in the area like Coeur D'Alene. We did have a very glutinous weekend though...and my wife found this article on the 11 foods we aren't eating that we should. I'm afraid that she will start buying and making the foods on the list.
http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/30/the-11-best-foods-you-arent-eating/?em&ex=1215576000&en=763aae2214c8e5f3&ei=5087%0A
Maybe it will only last a little bit and then she will realize that raw beets salad isn't the way that most car guys want to eat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Goodbye Sonics!!!
It's sad but true. And I know that the Sonics don't really effect the Spokane area but it's still unsettling. Oklahoma City Supersonics??????? It just doesn't sound right. And is there someone to blame? Howard Schultz? Clay Bennett? Mayor Nickels? The City Council? The fans that didn't show up in the last season? Who knows.......and I guess it's a moot point. But it's just too bad that the oldest franchise professional sports team has to leave like this.
