Gas prices aside....

Yes..it would be unfortunate for gas prices to rise again due to Tropical Storm Gustav. I think there was a headline that said prices might go up for Labor Day (big surprise); however, I really do hope it does not head for New Orleans. How much more can that city take? I went there about 4 years ago with my wife for the National Auto Dealers Association meeting and could see some of the issues that made Katrina a bigger tragedy than it should have been. But blame is not the answer in moving forward....however, if Gustav decides to hit that city in the next couple of days, I'm pretty sure it will be very hard for a city that has already been hit by devastation.

Politics....

I usually don't write about such things because I know it's very personal and sometimes can be very touchy. However, I have to say that with everything going on right now in the US, I can't help but be watching and reading and thinking about the upcoming election.

I did watch some of the Democratic National Conference last night. Was I saw of it was pretty good.....but I wonder if Obama will bring the needed change that I'm looking for. I want a better economy...obviously...but I am not sure what a new president can do for that. Would McCain do a better job? Maybe...but I'm not in 100% support of all of his ideas either. What an interesting time for US politics.

AND...with another tropical storm brewing, the price of oil has slightly gone up. I think most of us are used to higher prices now but it's frustrating to see how sensitive the prices are based on fears or what others think. It's like if someone sneezes wrong, the prices could drop or go sky high! What is the logic behind that?????

I have a brand new Dodge Challenger sitting in my showroom right now. We are entertaining offers but it's worth a look. Stop by and ask a sale consultant to show you the finer details of Chrysler doing something right. It's just plain old GORGEOUS!!!

You can also see it on our website at www.spokanechrysler.com.

Too hot to handle!!!

Sorry for the delay in posts. I was in Naples, FL the whole weekend at a business conference for Chrysler. There were a lot of interesting topics and I am really excited about what fuel-alternative cars Chrysler is building. It's based around electric cars where some have an engine and some are 100% electric. A lithium-ion battery will be included in these engines to give some umph to the car. Also, more fuel-efficient gas engines are going to hit the market soon. I'm glad to see that even though it might not be in the news constantly....Chrysler has some solid plans to help us dealers and consumers save some money on gas!!!!

Which...OF COURSE..with the tropical storm headed toward Florida.....the price of oil is fluctuating. I think peoples fears are being played upon SO much right now on gas prices, the economy, the recession, and even the presidential election that some might forget that we have minds to think with...not just emotions that make decisions for us.

However, I am glad to see that the temperature is supposed to drop a bit here. No one feels like doing anything in 100 degree weather. I thank my devoted employees that were working so hard this weekend at the dealership in unbearable temperatures.

Busy, Busy.....

I see that the last post was on Aug. 6th. I honestly don't know where the time goes....I try to get on at least every other day but some days...I don't even have enough time to eat lunch or even use the bathroom! I'm sure many of you have days like that too. Making sure everything is going smoothly is not an easy thing!

Well, gas prices keep going down and I figured they would as the economy got worse and investors got scared. I think the thing that makes me the most upset is that gas prices would jump up if a leader from the Middle East SAID the wrong thing and made someone nervous. Or some report would come out about oil reserves being low and gas prices would jump up again. It's nothing solid that would dictate what the market did...it would just be on how investors were feeling that day. How is the US economy supposed to take back any lost ground when it seems like prices of gas and even this "recession" is based on what people will THINK will happen???

Well, on more happy news, the US swimming team is great. I can't believe how competitive and athletic these people are. I know we can only follow what NBC shows us but that's ok because I like watching team USA in almost anything. It just makes you feel good. It is kind of funny, though, to see President Bush in the stands rooting like any other American would. Nothing stately about him at all in Beijing.

Hot, Hot HOT!!!!

I got a chance to see the 2008 Dodge Challenger and it's a hot looking car. It's amazing that with all the talk of gas prices and recession, etc. that people will still buy what they like. Period. I think if Detroit builds what people want, they would be ok. I understand that most people don't want a 6.1L HEMI engine but some do. And some people want a small 4 door sedan. But if a car is built with style and quality, they will sell. But what do I know????

Dealership question.....

Yesterday, we had a woman call the dealership and ask how much a 2007 and 2008 Chrysler 300 Touring went for. She asked what the price range was and so on....the sales consultant that answered the call was on top of it! He was pretty excited because it sounded like she really was interested in purchasing a car so he went and grabbed the rebate sheet on 2008's and the used car inventory list to make sure he would be quoting as many options as possible.

He gathered all of the information and gave her a call back to report our numbers and figures and see where he could go from there. After she heard the numbers, she wanted to know if we wanted to buy HER 2007 Chrysler 300 Touring and that she had been offered a figure for hers and that she didn't think it was high enough. Obviously, the sales consultant was disappointed and tried to answer her questions as best as he could.

I was reflecting upon this and I thought to myself....that this woman would have possibly gotten better service and a helpful response rather than being deceptive and throwing off our sales consultant. So, if she would have called and said..."Hi, I have 2007 Chrysler 300 Touring and I was wondering what would be a fair price to sell it for." I think she would have had a more insightful phone conversation.

It's funny that people make calls like this.....why play around with our poor innocent sales consultants?????

NEW rebates!!!!

Well, Chrysler is no longer offering leasing as an option to customers....HOWEVER, the even better news is that the rebates and incentives from the factory are better than before. So, instead of having leasing as an option, the bottom line becomes better for shoppers all together. I think that is great news since most of our customers purchase their cars out right.

It's great because there are huge cash discounts or options for 0% financing. I read that most of the manufacturers were down for new cars sales in July...I guess this is one way to make sure sale improve!!!

Come on by to see the great rebates and incentives.
