We have a 2004 and a 2008 Subaru on our lot and they are at exceptional prices. I have NO idea why they haven't sold so far since this is Washington that we live in and people LOVE Subaru's around here, there is an absurd amount of snow on the ground, and they are very clean and in great condition.
If you mention this blog while purchasing one of these cars, I will be sure to get you some oil changes (on the house) at our service department.

More of the same....
The snow is too much to handle. I keep myself busy while surfing the Internet and playing this silly game on my cell phone. Maybe someone can recommend a good book...I like light or humorous stuff.
I like the 2008 lists that are made up this time of year...like the best song, most popular search, the events in review, etc. It always makes me say...that was THIS year???? It's been a blur since I was pregnant and had a baby. I don't know where most of 2008 went....however, I do know that the economic news was terrible. BUT.....I think the best part of a new year is the hope that comes with it. To put 2008 to rest and move to another day....
And wait anxiously for Jan. 20, 2009.

Black Friday 2
Well....I am up early because my baby girl decided that she needed to feed multiple times last night and not just the usual one time am feeding. I guess she's growing or she's punking me. So, I guess I will go shopping this morning to Target. I don't know where else to go.....the mall isn't open yet.
So, this year for Christmas, I received a lipstick and an ice scraper. Yes, that is all. I'm not complaining because I have MORE than I need, for sure. However, it's weird just getting 2 things for Christmas...especially when we have a pretty large extended family that all came to my house yesterday. Oh, never mind, I also received 2 bakers dishes.
Life is good anyway...no complains here.

Seattle snow!!!
Ok....the drive to Seattle wasn't as bad as expected. I-90 was pretty clear. I was very surprised by the job that the Washington State DOT did on the roads. My tax dollars are WELL spent on that, for sure.
The roads were bad once you got into Seattle. I have NEVER seen the roads like this. Well, maybe a bit back in 1995 but other than that, it hasn't been this bad in a long time. The roads are so bumpy that you feel like you should be on an African Safari. From what my sister tells me, there are only a handful of trucks that can spread gravel or sand and only 1 or 2 that can spray down the de-icing solution. The city is completely unprepared for so much snow. For once, I can say that the roads in Spokane are much nicer than the roads in Seattle.
Please have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Snow, snow go away....
I guess we get a slight break before another dumping of snow. I know there are some people who are enjoying all of the nature.....I am not one of them. I don't think my husband is either since he has to shovel, dig, and unbury cars that are covered with snow...and THEN move all of the snow. I don't think I'm cut out for cold weather.
Just put a turkey in the oven and it's 6am. We have a office holiday party and I volunteered to bring a turkey since I had an extra one in my freezer that was taking up too much space. What was I thinking?????????????? I'm tired and cranky now and I don't know how I'm supposed to spread holiday cheer at the dealership when I've been up getting a turkey in the oven. I should have just signed up for a tub of potato salad or something.
Well, we will be heading to Seattle soon for Christmas. It's at my sister's house this year and I have to cook...and help clean....and all of the above. Maybe some of the post-Christmas shopping will help me relax from the holidays. I love the holidays!!!!

We have some pre-owned Commanders on sale right now...you can ask any sales person or manager about their performance in the snow.
I am a believer....Trail Rated does matter!!!

Snow EVERYWHERE....
YES!!! Spokane Chrysler is OPEN for business.....
but this snow is insane!!! I have lived here for 5 years and last year was the most snow fall in one month and right now is the most in 24 hours or something like that. Ummmm....I am not used to this kind of weather and I hate it!!!!
I used to teach for the Seattle School District and we closed if there was even a threat of snow!! Like yesterday, Seattle was supposed to get snow so the district was closed. So this weather is just overwhelming. When my neighbors (Spokane lifers) are amazed.....then that means I am not thrilled.
How am I supposed to finish my Christmas shopping??@!!?!@#*@%^!@)(#&

Employee Pricing....
Please ask about employee pricing if you are interested in a new Chrysler. There is a program until Jan. 2, 2009 that many people don't know about and one that we can't publicly advertise. For example, an All-Wheel Drive Chrysler 300 with many plush options will run you under $30,000 including tax and licensing.
There are many other deals because you get employee pricing PLUS the cash rebates.
Call or come on in......

Union Bashing vs. Union Embracing
Well...it looks like the Republicans in the South don't want to give Detroit a break saying that tax payer dollars can't go for backward companies. Yes, they have made their mistakes but I don't think this is the time to shame them and the many families that depend on them right now when we are in the worst recession in 70 years. BUT...this interesting article on msnbc.com yesterday shows that some of the southern states were more than happy to spend tax payer dollars to lure a foreign car maker to their state. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28239206/
So, I guess it's ok to spend money to "create jobs" but not ok to keep American jobs. Makes no sense.
When did unions because public enemy #1 when labor counts for only 10% toward the cost of the car?

Bitter Cold....
Cold is cold. I'm not used to such weather since I grew up in the Puget Sound area. I used to think that anything in the 20's was cold. I also used to think that if there was an inch or 2 of snow.. EVERYTHING would be closed down. The first winter I was in Spokane, there was a night where we had 5-6 inches fall overnight. I got up and looked out the window and thought...well, I guess we can't go to work today. I was shocked to find out that people still go to work and kids still go to school in that kind of snowfall. There was even a kid standing outside waiting for the bus!!! I was the only one that didn't show up for work that day. 5-6 inches of snow would shut Seattle down for days.

windy wind!!!
If you have a youngster in your house, you might recognize the title from the Dora the Explorer shows. I find myself referring to simple nouns with TV words instead like kickity kick ball (from Wow Wow Wubbzy) and or the Spanish translation. Jay and I were talking about how we used to watch the Road Runner get chased and Wiley Coyote get his with an anvil or Chilly Willy ask for more pancakes. We didn't learn Spanish or get to know animals in the rainforest. I also did not know what an octagon was when I was 3. My how cartoons have changed.
However, this wind today is incredible. It's just blowing and blowing up at my house and today a girl from CV high school came by collecting food for the food drive. I have to give her mad credit for going out this in weather for others. What a great heart and spirit!!!
To those that came and bought cars today...thank you for the business and I have to admire your get up an go because I wasn't getting up and going anywhere today. It's just too cold. This is a great time to get a great deal though.....so start shopping people!

Senate stall....
So, watching all of the news develop around the auto loan to the Big 3 has caused me to brush up on my government processes. The current bill was drafted and created by the White House and the Democrats which I'm sure was not pleasing to the Republicans. It passed the House of Representatives but not the Senate....so it's stuck. I understand both sides of the picture. The Republicans want to draw down the debt and they also want to cut the wages of the factory workers under the United Auto Workers to get them more in line with the factory workers of Nissan, Honda, and Toyota that have factories in the South. I agree with the debt..that's fantastic although that means bondholders are left with the really short end of the stick. Then, I understand getting wages more in line with other factory workers but can one factory be the same as the other? Can one wage be mandatory for all car factory workers? Also, is it fair to the worker that has been on the front line making these cars day in and day out to get a pay cut so their company can stay afloat? Were the bank tellers and the insurance agents at Citibank and AIG asked to take a wage and benefit cut for their bailout?
Now on the Democrat side....1 in 10 American jobs are influenced by the auto industry. Yes, the Big 3 need to restructure and become stronger but is this the time to let them go down when so many people depend of them? I think it would be very catastrophic as this point to not give them a bridge loan or bailout. Also, as I heard Senate Dodd say this morning...where were all of these requirements when the Republicans were voting for the other bailouts? Why now then it comes to middle income, middle class workers and not when it was white collar jobs on the line?
I hope the White House does something right....since the past couple of years have been very tough on most Americans.
Also, the government can spend $10billion A MONTH on a war in Iraq but helping out American companies where 1 in 10 jobs are effected is too hard to do????????????

Let it snow!!!
So, it would be great if it only snowed a day or so and the it all melted away. But I think it's forecasted to stay VERY cold for the next couple of days. That always makes me just stay home and eat comfort foods. The winter months are brutal for me in many ways. Like I heard an employee say that other day...."I can feel my skin getting dry already and my knuckles cracking and bleeding." Gross but true.

Politics!!! Good and bad...
You know, I believe in the good that politics can do. I'm excited about President-Elect Obama's plan to fund infrastructure. I know there are good politicians fighting for the plight of the underprivileged. There are many good things....but then the bad things are too shocking!!! The Governor of Illinois was just arrested this morning for trying to "sell" the senate seat that Obama is vacating. I cannot believe this isn't from a movie or a book! There are also reports that he tried to get people fired at the Chicago newspaper and rescind a hospital grant too. Just simply amazing that someone would so blatantly abuse the powers given to him....

CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Jon Stewert show, and so on!!!
(Jay's wife, Yoon Yi, has taken over this blog for a bit since Jay is always busy selling and servicing cars in this tough economic climate. He's doing a great job.)
I think I am in a different place in my life right now...or maybe it's the economy....whatever the case, I am watching more news on the TV than ever before. Before the election, I was watching everything I could to find out more about Obama vs. McCain. It was just fascinating because it was so close and so historic. I still think if McCain could have shown more of his true personality, he could have won. However, I also think we needed a change because the current administration isn't doing much. Regardless, I was glued to the new stations and agreed and disagreed with many statements. It was great.
So, I thought after the election I would be returning to my regular programming of channel surfing in the daytime. However, now I find myself watching the market and the congressional hearings on the auto makers. I heard something yesterday that really hit a note. Many news shows were saying that it's a matter of timing...and there is bailout fatigue on Capital Hill. If the Big 3 had been 1st in line, then maybe it would have passed easier, but Fannie and Freddie Mac, AIG, Citibank, and the $700 billion for the financial sector were all ahead of the Big 3. Now, the employees of AIG or Citibank aren't being scrutinized about how much they make but the hard working factory worker is getting grilled. I'm sure a middle management employee makes more than a factory worker but that has never been an issue before. Maybe people don't like unions but still, it's not fair to say that a the unionized factory worker is the main reason for the Big 3 not being competitive in the market place. There are many other issues before that to place the blame.
Yes, the Big 3 is in trouble and yes, it needs to be fixed. I wonder if allowing bankruptcy would be the best way to handle this. Can you imagine the US without manufacturing automobiles???

back in chilly Spokane....
(Jay's wife, Yoon Yi, has taken over this blog for a bit since Jay is always busy selling and servicing cars in this tough economic climate. He's doing a great job.)
So, living in Seattle for so long....I never realized what everyone was talking about when they said it was so grey and blah.....how the weather was depressing and some people had to use sun lamps and such. That always puzzled me. I just got on my 10,000 layers of clothing on and went out the door. Now living in Spokane, I understand what others were talking about. It's FREEZING cold but it's sunny. It isn't grey everyday like it is in Seattle from November to about April. And I also realize that it really doesn't rain all that much in Seattle but it's just that it's always cloudy. It's rarely grey here in Spokane during the winter unless it's raining or snowing....well, which last year, it seemed like it was 24 hours a day when we had over 40 inches of snow last January. I'm praying we don't repeat that again.

Also, I have to say that I eat more fast food in Spokane than in Seattle. I think it's because the choices are EVERYWHERE!!!! I heard there are more fast food restaurants in Spokane per ca pita than anywhere else in the state....and I believe it. I don't think the Puget Sound area has a Whopper Wednesday deal like Spokane does. Also, there is Carl's Jr./Green Burrito and even a newer A&W to choose from. In Seattle, I have to drive for at least 10-15 min. to find a Dairy Queen but in Spokane, I have 2 to choose from that is only 5 min. from my house. It was fun at the beginning but now, my waistline is paying for it. Not even going to think about what my arteries and heart have been through either.
ALSO....a big THANK YOU to Hair Farmer Joe for your comment. It was my first one!!!!
