Long weekend.....good to be home again.

So...a close family member got married on the 4th of July. Yes...Independence Day. And, on top of that, they currently do not live in WA so they wanted a destination spot for their wedding so their guest could come, relax, enjoy, bond, and celebrate together. Unfortunately for us, Jay works all kind of crazy hours so it was impossible to go early and stay late. We traveled to Lummi Island on Saturday and found that we are NOT "island" kind of people. It is very typical in Seattle to meet people who on one island or another (Vashon, Bainbridge, etc.) and it's just a part of life to ride the ferry and all that comes with it. Standing in line with the other cars, port-o-potties, entertaining yourself as you wait, etc. Well, we found out VERY quickly that Jay and I would need some serious detoxification from our current life to be island people. Yes, Lummi island was beautiful and it was quaint and peaceful and all of that...however, I get nervous driving on roads without stop lights (What if the other car coming up on the intersection doesn't see me???!!) and waiting for a ferry is not fun with 2 kids under the age of 4. I choose NOT to do such remote and out of the way things. I would rather get married in Vegas and drink the night away (orange juice, of course) in all the different hotels that are swarming with people. Different strokes for different folks.

However, the wedding itself was amazing and wonderful. I hope Tanya and Aaron the best for the rest of their lives.

That was Saturday...and we left the wedding location at 6:30 and got some to Seattle at 10:30. That's like driving to Spokane and back for a wedding!!! However, we did have enough energy to hit up the local taco truck. It's Korean tacos. Yes....I know those 2 don't seem to go together..but they do. The Marination Mobile also served up some awesome Spam sliders (don't get me started on my love of Spam - for some reason, Koreans LOVES them their processed meats) and Kahlua pork tacos for the Hawaiian mix as well. I couldn't have been happier to end my evening with gourmet "street" food.

Then we were going to head back to Spokane so Jay could work but he just couldn't do it. I think working for 12 days straight and traveling to Chicago and back to network and meet with Chrysler people did him in. So, we joined a friend in driving down to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA. Good thing they had room for us to go and even better our friends were going to treat us!!!! (I wonder what we will have to go in return...hmmmmmm) So, we packed up and started the drive down for one night. This place is a huge indoor waterpark and almost like Vegas for kids. The kids had SO much fun..it was worth the drive....and being in a swim suit. Gulp. That part was NOT fun.

Then back to Spokane yesterday. We basically covered the whole state....our Chrysler Aspen was awesome. Comfortable and roomy and safe. You didn't think I wouldn't plug one of our cars in this blog entry...did you????? Spending that much time in car where we traveled somewhere EVERYDAY for hours......you have to be thankful that a safe car got us from one location to another.
