Extended!!!! Through this weekend ONLY - Cash for Clunkers!

The Cash for Clunkers program is on.......again! The money ran out too quickly and that is phenomenal. However, it has been extended until the end of this weekend!

SUNDAY, Aug 2, 2009, is the LAST DAY for the "Cash for Clunkers" program!!! (Unless the government continues it further.) HURRY IN NOW!!!!!!

I know many people have argued that this program doesn't save jobs but it sure might in some areas. People buying cars does really create a downstream effect in the whole community. Would we have cut sales consultants if this program weren't in place? Maybe...but I do know that the activity created right now by people buying cars is helping the local businesses that our employees can go to now due to the money they are making that they MIGHT NOT have made earlier. Also, the new car customer might get a new stereo put in or new car seat covers...that is all money into the community. The salvage yard that will take the "clunker" is also getting business and so on and so on. AND....as I have been watching some of the national news channels, I know there have been people on both sides arguing if this is a good program or not. Of course, it's NOT perfect...I wish it would have included fuel-efficient pre-owned vehicles. I wish it would have been a wider scope of cars that can qualify. But, life can't be about what could have been or what should have been...you just have to do with what you have handed to you. So...we move on and make lemonade with the lemons given us. And DARN good lemonade to boot!!!

Convertible Challenger and Cuda

From Autoblog.com, there is a post about Mr. Norm's Garage in Florida and the work they are doing. The pictures are fantastic too! They have converted a Challenger and a Cuda into convertibles. It's definitely worth a look.

Very cool stuff happening....

Mind over Muscle

Seattle is supposed to have record-breaking temperatures all week long and we just have some nice, dry hot 80's-90's weather.

So, there is an editorial in today's NY Times regarding the cars that automakers make that aren't as fuel efficient as they could be. Of course, the Detroit 3 have released the Chevy Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, and the long-standing Ford Mustang and these aren't known for their gas sipping abilities, but people buy them! What is a car maker to do??????

The article also points out that the Chevy Malibu Hybrid was killed in June due to slow sales so what do you do? Give the people what they should want or what they are buying?

Such a balance that needs to be made. But really, I probably do not need a huge HEMI engine to get me through town, BUT, if I am towing or hauling something. what am I to do? And, I don't want to drive me and my 2 kids in a SMART car when the cars next to me on the road are HUGE trucks and SUV's.

If only my car could transform like in the Transformers movies. sigh.

Taco Bell truck
Are you kidding me??? Taco Bell in a truck??? It comes to you???!!!!! I would be in line for the Crunch Wrap Supreme all the time......

Yes, this is part of my fast food problem. I understand.

However, this is also a bit odd to be because the trend right now is to have gourmet truck foods.. where you can go and get a fantastic meal from a truck. The rage was the Kogi truck in LA where people would stand in line for hours or wait at the spot the truck was coming to before it even got there. http://www.latimes.com/theguide/restaurants/la-fo-kogi11-2009feb11,0,4560062.story (But really, who wouldn't want a taco filled with Korean BBQ!!!! Soooooooooooooo Goooooooooood.)

I knew it would only be time before one opened up in Seattle...and well, now there is the Marination Mobile. It has a twitter account to tell you where they will be just like the Kogi truck in LA and the food is good. They have more of a Hawaiian influence that just straight Korean but Spam sliders are good for me no matter what so I'm happy with it. The Kahlua pork and the Korean beef bbq tacos are good, too. I'm a terrible critic...it's ALL good to me!!!

So, gourmet foods in a truck that you walk up to and order from a menu that is all on wheels. I love it.....so I guess why wouldn't Taco Bell get in on this action. They even have a Twitter page too to find the Taco Bell truck. OR...just go to the local Taco Bell restaurant that has been on that local corner for years. Is McDonald's next? Or maybe In and Out Burgers.....oh yes, please!!! It's hard to wait years for the next trip to LA or Las Vegas that may or may NOT happen to have one of their Double-Doubles, animal style with extra crispy fries. Oh......man......now....I...really...want...an....In...And...Out...Burger.!!!!

Another possible Fiat 500 model?????

The Fiat 500 Abarth convertible is a possible option to be coming to the US along with the other 4 models already planned. The Abarth is a little more "sporty" than the regular model and that combined with the convertible top is said to be the both of best world melded together.

The convertible is very chic. And.............

The Abarth is quite sporty....blacked out wheels and everything....

So, I can't wait to see the pictures of the 2 together.

Good for you, Fiat. Can you just get them to the states a little faster?????

Smell like Cadillac????

So, coming this fall....in a store near you.....Cadillac cologne. What the??? And the thing is...that maybe it might be a nice scent..pleasant to the nose...however, carrying the Cadillac name would make it so I WOULD NOT buy it for Jay.

No...it is not "new car smell" in a bottle or ever fumes of gasoline, but it's to have hints of grapefruit, chamomile, geranium, tarragon and cinnamon. So far, it sounds like it would be an amazing cup of tea...not cologne.

I think it's ridiculous that almost every celeb and celeb-wannabe has a scent...but now a car maker?

I can't even think of what store would carry this cologne. I guess I'll have to wait until the fall.

yy

The response is POSITIVE!!!! Double Ca$h is a HIT!

Our phones have been ringing off the hook!!! I know, I know...that sounds totally like what a car dealership would say even if our phones were so quiet that we could hear the coffee dripping into the pot as it was brewing.

BUT...remember...we aren't just any, regular old car dealership. We're the real-deal...family involved....owner knows about stuff at every level....no BS kind-of operation. We want to actually sell cars and make the experience as smooth as possible.....SO....the truth is that we have had some awesome response to the promotion that Chrysler is running with the "Double Ca$h for your old Car" campaign.

It's awesome....but hurry in or call..because our new car inventory is dwindling down!!! And that is the truth!!!

Did you know...we find cars for you too??!!!!

So.....we do what many car dealerships DON'T do these days. We actually offer and give excellent customer service. One of the many services we provide is locating a specific car you want to buy. It's a headache to look all over the place for a car and then to try to negotiate a price all while trusting that the car is safe to drive!

We have found many cars over the years and have created very happy customers. They tell us what they want...we find it or something VERY similar....and if they agree, we have a deal!!! Here is a sample of cars we have found:

2007 Lamborghini Gallardo
2004 Honda Accord
2007 Mercedes ML 350
2006 Mercedes E55
2007 BMW 750il
2005 Mercedes E320
2006 Mercedes C320
2004 Honda Civic Si
2008 Scion tC
2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS
2005 Subaru Outback wagon

This are specific because our customer tells us what they are looking for: color, mileage, etc. and what price range they would like to be in. Then we go to work. It's been fantastic and the easiest way for busy people to buy a car.....the cars come to you and so does the paperwork.

If you have a specific need....it can be any car...and you are also fair in what you expect to pay.... and don't need the car within 24 hours.....we will do all the work and you just need to say "Yes" or "No."

Give it a try....you'll think it's one of the easiest ways to buy a car!

Thumbs UP? or Thumbs DOWN?

Acura ZDX ConceptAcura ZDX Concept

The new Acura ZDX. Not sure what kind of crossover this is. Wagon and SUV and hatchback? 5 passengers that can ride in style......maybe.

I'm not digging too much here...but these are just photos. Maybe it looks better in person? I sure hope so......

Gun with purchase....

So, the dealership in Missouri that was offering a coupon for an AK-47 with a purchase of a car has received some awesome publicity using the promotion. If only we could do a great promotion for some publicity...even though some may be quite negative. I'm just kidding. We wouldn't....we couldn't. That is not how Jay thinks, works, or operates. He believes that excellent customer service and awesome prices will speak volumes. We won't get a HUGE onslaught of publicity that is controversial or go by the "bad publicity is good publicity" rule but that is OK with us. I guess this dealership did what it intended to with the gun with purchase promotion. Good for them... and I bet the owners really believe in giving guns to people as well. So maybe it's a win-win for them.

Also, did you know that Buick is trying to position themselves as a luxury brand that complete with Lexus? They want younger buyers to see the luxury the Buick provides. I had NO idea that was their pitch and goal. Maybe they should try a gun with purchase type of ad....that might get people to notice their cars and their new image. Ok...maybe guns doesn't go with Lexus and luxury. I will try to think of something else.....

Baby names.....

So.....back in my 20's....we had weddings, bridal showers, bachelorette and birthday parties to go to. Now, in my 30's....it's kid's birthday parties, baby showers, and more kid parties. Sigh...

My girlfriends and I would talk about what place to go to at night or what to wear or what to buy at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Now???? We talk about recipes, how Thomas the Train was in Seattle, and how kid birthday parties have gotten out of hand lately. At least our conversations keep us going in a positive direction....instead of getting worried with the woes of the world.

Currently, a friend of mine in LA and I are trying to think of names for her baby...due Dec. 20. We don't know the sex yet so it's just a big huge game. It's tough to think of the right name these days. It's important!!!! However, I think people, these days, are trying to be very creative and sometimes I'm not sure if it's a name?? She met a couple at the museum who had named their son Strummer. I sure hope his mom or dad enjoy the guitar or have some stringed instrument related hobby.

Any other interesting names you've heard lately????

Hat's off to you...Percy's Americana in Spokane Valley, WA

Owner Pat Kroetch has had a heck of a year. Her home was destroyed in the Valley View fire last summer and then her husband, Greg, passed away shortly after that. If that isn't enough devastation, now her family business, Percy's Americana restaurant, is closing on Monday. The restaurant started by her father in 1965 will be closing on Monday because the lease could not be renegotiated. It's sad for any family business to close with all of the relationships you build with employees, patrons, and the community, but for nothing more than a lease issues....it's hard to take. Sure, the can open again someplace else...but it's hard to close and open again in a short amount of time...physically and emotionally. Of course, that's not to mention what Mrs. Kroetch has gone through in the past year.

Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice to your business...I know what comes with that. And my family will be praying for you and your family for comfort and rest and peace and love. Of course, until you find either another space or location to open up again!!!!

We will be praying for your employees to find other jobs and that your vendors will not be too hurt by the loss of business.

Until then......your courage is admirable.

Fast food...love

I can't get away from it!!!!!!!! uggghhh. I tired the Angus burger from McDonald's and the Sirloin burger from Jack in the Box....have to say that having a fast food restaurant burger with that much meat is weird to me. I enjoy the thin little patties with a lot of bun...or maybe I'm just used to it. So, the thick patties in both of these burgers are too salty and dry for me. I will stick with the puny, small meat patties. However, out of the 2, I enjoy the Jack in the Box one more.

However...fries? HANDS DOWN...McDonald's. I could eat them every day. Unfortunately.

I would like to lose weight...but my desire for fast food does nothing for this desire.

sigh.

The old and the new......

Well, with Hummer (the old) being sold to the little known outfit called Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery (the new), it was a good day with good news for GM. However, it looks like the deal has hit a snag. 2 top officials in China are on opposite sides of the sale. One official wants to have the sale go through and the other does not because of environmental concerns regarding Hummer and that the potential buyer does not have solid future plans. A division could call the whole sale off......that would really be a Hummer bummer. So, I guess we shall wait and see. It is reported that a decision could be made by the end of the month. I am thinking that there weren't a lot of suitors for Hummer if this small, little Chinese company won the bid...but I could be wrong. I wonder what is in store for Hummer if the deal goes through...and if it doesn't. Either way, I'm sure the gas-guzzler won't rule the roads like it used to. I am not for huge SUV's..so much...but they do haul a boat quite nicely. I've seen many of them on the road to Lake Coeur D'Alene.

(Now that I think about it....I did have a Hummer experience once. We took one in on trade and my husband decided it would be fun to drive it over to Seattle. He had a one day meeting so I dropped him off and then decided to go to downtown and window shop a little. NONE of the parking garages would take the car...and I couldn't even PAY anyone to valet the car. It was too tall for the garages....I had to parallel park the darn think in downtown Seattle. Also...FYI...I am quite good at parallel parking...you HAVE to be if you've lived in Seattle for 15 years. How could I have forgotten that????!!! I reversed it into the spot....went forward...then back..then forward... then back....I could have been filming a commercial for a good driving school, reasons to buy a small car, or why the stereotypical Asian lady shouldn't be allowed to drive such large cars. It was bad. I had to get out to see how much room I had in front and in back...MULTIPLE times. Sweating and tired, I said I wouldn't drive one again..... So far, that is true. I must have blocked this out of my mind. It was quite embarrassing. )

Ok...sorry...I digress. Another old and new story.....the old Pontiac G8 would have gone down along with the brand but some of the GM exec's think that it would be a waste. So they might make it new again as a Chevy Caprice.

Not sure what the market is like for a larger sedan but if the Chrysler 300 is any indication, there is a need for for them!

Viper lives on! So does the VW Routan.....

So, Chrysler has taken the "for sale" sign off of the Viper line.....and I think many people out there let out a collective sigh of relief. I, myself, am not a huge fan of the Viper but I know people who love them...and they are 100% in love. Swooning and everything. And the bond that fellow Viper owners have is pretty amazing....I'm glad that can continue. We also have a Viper trained technician at our store.....so I guess I'm glad there will be more so his training and the special tools won't go to waste.

Now for the Town and Country and the VW Routan.....the Windsor plant in Canada was set to close down their 3rd shift but that, along with 1200 jobs, has been spared! They will continue to make more minivans for Dodge, Chrysler, and VW. This is actually good news because it's hard to find minivans out there today! I know many of you won't believe it, but we have had to dealer trade, as far as CA, for a minivan. With the factories being closed down for 3 months, the pickings were slim on the Town and Country's with certain options.

Good news day today.....oh, and along with the fact that the cost of gas per gallon is lower now!

FREE Slurpees at 7-11!!!

Well, at PARTICIPATING 7-Elevens today...since it's 7/11! They are celebrating this 82nd birthday. I think it's great that a company can last this long these days!

ALSO, the article on seattletimes.com said that the 7-Eleven just west of downtown Kennewick sells the MOST Slurpees in the WORLD! They average about 1000 a day. Way to go, Kennewick!

Friday, Friday!!!!

Again, I have no idea why I get excited for Friday's. Maybe it's a social pressure thing....since I a stay at home and everyday is the same. Well, I guess the news is a lot slower on the weekends.. and SOMETIMES, my husband comes home a little earlier on Saturday. Early is 7pm for us here. Dinner is ALWAYS at 8pm or 9pm.....that does a number on my waistline and his. But...it is what it is. Right? I'll have plenty of time in the future to excercise....sure..when my kids are both in school...yeah, that's when I'll run and sweat off my "mom" weight in NO time. I'm sure of it....

Sure.....if only I could stop eating fast food then.

So....random...but I strongly dislike websites that talk or have people talking or that have loud obnoxious music playing. If I wanted someone to explain to me what is on a website, I would just call someone instead. I hate going to a site and then getting BLASTED with a voice or music and scaring me half to death OR waking up my napping kids which is worse. This is why our website has no music playing or some fake cyber-person talking to you. I surely can't be the only one that feels this way. If I want to hear something on the Internet, it's from Pandora.com. (What a very smart website....all the music I LOVE without me having to go and find it!) So, if you like a talking voice, please write me back and tell me why? I am quite curious.

And.....to The Valley Club in Huntingdon Valley, PA. I sure hope the story in the media is putting you in an incorrect light and that the truth is different that what is being published. I would hate to think that, in this day and age, your club would really be so careless in reacting so blatantly racist. I know racism occurs still today...I'm not ignorant...but usually, people are a little more discreet in their actions. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt until all the facts are revealed. I'm hoping for the best......but really not expecting it. I would LOVE to be wrong in this situation.

Speedy GM

It looks like the quick and speedy GM bankruptcy might be over by this week. I guess what the Obama administration wants is what the Obama administration gets. And in this case and also with Chrysler, a fast, bulldozer like exit from bankruptcy is best for the company, the workers, and the economy overall. Dealers can get to selling and the public's confidence can start building again.

PHEW!!!

So, the first few Fiat 500 Convertibles went on sale in London. I have to say..they look VERY cute. Here is a picture (from Autoblog.com) that shows Elle Macpherson getting into her convertible.

Can't wait for them to come stateside. (And as a bonus...I never thought I would ever use the word "stateside"! How exciting!!!)

McDonald's Angus burger update....

So, from the reports I am getting back...the burgers are "Eh....not bad." I still have not tried it since I also go with my "usual" but the next time I get a huge burger crave....I will have to go there to make this curiosity go away.

Now, would these same folks go back specifically for the Angus burger???? I haven't gotten one "Hell yeah!!!" or even a "Sure I would..." Just more of a "umm..maybe" or "I suppose." So, I'm going to say that it's a nice option to have on the menu but nothing to drive traffic to McDonald's because people are craving it...unlike their fries....or the Coffee Toffee Twisted Frosty from Wendy's. Now that thing is good..............

Man..the time is spend thinking about food is unreal. I would be way more productive if I could focus better on things like laundry, vacuuming, washing dishes, etc. I could make a FANTASTIC house mom if I wasn't so into food and tv and surfing the web while my kids play with their toys that they hopefully don't choke on. Maybe someday I will focus better.....even though that is what I have said since I was in elementary school. Could it be a pattern? Oh...who knows... have to go watch some more TV now.

Long weekend.....good to be home again.

So...a close family member got married on the 4th of July. Yes...Independence Day. And, on top of that, they currently do not live in WA so they wanted a destination spot for their wedding so their guest could come, relax, enjoy, bond, and celebrate together. Unfortunately for us, Jay works all kind of crazy hours so it was impossible to go early and stay late. We traveled to Lummi Island on Saturday and found that we are NOT "island" kind of people. It is very typical in Seattle to meet people who on one island or another (Vashon, Bainbridge, etc.) and it's just a part of life to ride the ferry and all that comes with it. Standing in line with the other cars, port-o-potties, entertaining yourself as you wait, etc. Well, we found out VERY quickly that Jay and I would need some serious detoxification from our current life to be island people. Yes, Lummi island was beautiful and it was quaint and peaceful and all of that...however, I get nervous driving on roads without stop lights (What if the other car coming up on the intersection doesn't see me???!!) and waiting for a ferry is not fun with 2 kids under the age of 4. I choose NOT to do such remote and out of the way things. I would rather get married in Vegas and drink the night away (orange juice, of course) in all the different hotels that are swarming with people. Different strokes for different folks.

However, the wedding itself was amazing and wonderful. I hope Tanya and Aaron the best for the rest of their lives.

That was Saturday...and we left the wedding location at 6:30 and got some to Seattle at 10:30. That's like driving to Spokane and back for a wedding!!! However, we did have enough energy to hit up the local taco truck. It's Korean tacos. Yes....I know those 2 don't seem to go together..but they do. The Marination Mobile also served up some awesome Spam sliders (don't get me started on my love of Spam - for some reason, Koreans LOVES them their processed meats) and Kahlua pork tacos for the Hawaiian mix as well. I couldn't have been happier to end my evening with gourmet "street" food.
sliders

Then we were going to head back to Spokane so Jay could work but he just couldn't do it. I think working for 12 days straight and traveling to Chicago and back to network and meet with Chrysler people did him in. So, we joined a friend in driving down to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA. Good thing they had room for us to go and even better our friends were going to treat us!!!! (I wonder what we will have to go in return...hmmmmmm) So, we packed up and started the drive down for one night. This place is a huge indoor waterpark and almost like Vegas for kids. The kids had SO much fun..it was worth the drive....and being in a swim suit. Gulp. That part was NOT fun.
Great Wolf Lodge

Then back to Spokane yesterday. We basically covered the whole state....our Chrysler Aspen was awesome. Comfortable and roomy and safe. You didn't think I wouldn't plug one of our cars in this blog entry...did you????? Spending that much time in car where we traveled somewhere EVERYDAY for hours......you have to be thankful that a safe car got us from one location to another.

We're OPEN!!! July 4th and 5th!

Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend!!! It's going to be hot out here so I hope you enjoy the sun and celebrate in style.

WE ARE OPEN this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come down and buy a car if you need one!!! Or just come by for a test drive. We have a lot of fun cars like Jeep Rubicons and convertibles to choose from.

To just leave you for the weekend, this just caught my eye. I am not a motorcycle "head" by any means but this made me stop and look at it. I know it's way overpriced at $55k, but it is just a head turner. I wonder how many stares this would get up and down Sprague!

Here we go again.....jobs. sigh.

The numbers are out that we are up again in job losses. Well, with companies that Chrysler and GM filing bankruptcy and closing plants....isn't this news kind of expected? I am not any kind of "financial guru" or expert by any means. Yes, I did study Business at UW but really, I think I was trying to study romantic relationships and how NOT to study more that my real major. So, if I could see this coming....I don't understand how or why the stock market is freaking out and news media like CNBC or Fox News are making this sound like the sky is falling! Does it look good??? Not really..but there are other indicators out there that the economy is at least getting a little better. Unemployment isn't the ONLY statistic out there. Praise God for that!!!!

So, let's just all just take a breath and make a plan to get thing going the right way. This up and down, over depressed or over excited attitude doesn't do anything to help your health, your wealth, or your mind!!!! And trust me, if anyone should be freaking out...it should be me. I am a wife of a car dealer who owns a single-point Chrysler store in Spokane, WA!!!!

What shall we do? Spend what you have budgeted and save what you have in mind as well! Don't stop everything! Sigh. How is this economy supposed to turn around if no one spends any money? Go crazy and buy everything? NO..that's how we got into this mess...but let's just go back to what is good fiscal planning. Save, Spend, Budget.

Anyway...we ARE open this weekend...yes, even July 4th! Stop by and test drive some cars! You might even fall in love with one and take it home!

Will you try it? McDonald's Angus Burger

The 1/3 pound Angus burger is supposed to be around $4. I'm not too sure. So, with fries and a drink....will that make it around $6? Then tax on top of that??? Don't get me wrong...I LOOOOOOVE McDonalds. Always have, always will. In our household on Fridays, it's unofficially Filet-o-Fish Fridays....I even add lettuce to my sandwich. But I'm not too sure about this burger.
See full size image

Maybe if someone offered it for free...I would try it. But while in the drive-thru....I don't go to McDonalds to try something new so a pretty picture might not be what makes me stray away from either my 2 cheeseburger or Filet-o-fish meal.

OR...I suppose I could go down there to try it and consider it "research" for this website or blog spot. Does that mean I can write it off as a business expense? I only joke......

Chrylser Firepower Concept - what do you think?

Well, what do you think of the Firepower Concept? I think it looks sharp....of course, it won't be a volume seller but it looks very nice. However, I think Chrysler was scared to pull the trigger in bringing this to the marketplace due to the Crossfire and the economy.

However, I ask because the man who designed this car is now the chief designer for Chrysler. Each brand will have their own designer to further differentiate each brand. Brandon Faurote will be in charge of Chrysler, Joseph Dehner in at Dodge, and Mark Allen in at Jeep. Mr. Faurote is also responsible for the Chrysler Imperial Concept. I hope he does great things with the brand. But what happened to the guy who created the new 300? I will try to get an answer.
