Have to give a "good job" when there is a win....even though you were cheering for the other team. It's crazy that Dwight Howard is only 23. I sure do hope that he will another chance to win an NBA title in his career.
The weather has been up and down in Spokane this weekend. Hot, muggy, raining, sun, clouds, etc. It's funny for Jay to hear people describe this weather as muggy since he grew up on the East Coast. The first time I went to meet his family was during Christmas break (I used to be a teacher) and as soon as I got off the plane....I thought the air was just so heavy. I saw him and I'm pretty sure my first words were..."It's SO muggy here." He looked at me and just laughed since it was December and everyone in Florida was "cold" in the 60 degree weather and didn't feel one bit of the humidity. It's all about perspective.......unfortunately, you get more if it as you get older. If only we knew MORE as a youngster....then those horrifying moments where you realized your mom/dad/grandma/grandpa/crazy uncle/etc. was right or wise wouldn't be so jarring. I hate those moments.
So, I've been noticing signs around the Spokane Valley about disincorporating. I have only been here for 6 years and almost had my head buried in the sand with the business so I am not sure which is better? Incorporate as a city OR disincorporate and be under the county. The pros and cons are not clear because yes, I do not like more taxes or higher budgets but then again, I enjoy the Spokane Valley parks and recreation programs that are available for my son. Do I need a city manager for that? I'm not sure but I like some of the services I get by being a city....so, what would be cut if Spokane Valley were to disincorporate? Actually, I'm sure there is some history behind it, but I have never understood why Spokane and Spokane Valley were 2 separate cities.
