Tidbit Friday

Lots of interesting things in the news today....well, they are interesting to me, at least.

SO.......Roger Penske, a former race car driver and businessman, has put in his bid to buy Saturn. I hope this deal works out for him. It's a risky move since cars aren't really selling right now but I'm sure he picked it up at a bargain. Big risks for big returns, right? At least it saves dealerships from closing and hundreds of thousands of jobs. For now, at least. It's a big adventure but Penske hasn't made his fortune by just playing it safe. We shall see...time will tell.

NEXT......layoffs for the month of May were the fewest since September, but the unemployment rate jumped to 9.4%. So I guess fewer employers are letting people go but they aren't hiring more either. And I know that it's hard for people without jobs to find one these days. We are praying and hoping for a couple of close friends right now. Analysts also predict that even though we are shedding less jobs each month, that the job market won't be back to "normal" levels for another 6 months to a year. It's not great news but it's better than what it could be. I'll take what I can get right now.....and positive is better than negative!!!

THEN.......the Lakers are on the prowl for another NBA Championship. This would be Coach Jackson's 10th title and Kobe's 4th title. Oh my. I guess this is why people either LOVE the Lakers or hate them. A true love/hate relationship, for me as well, because as a Sonics fan, I just dislikes them....but for a player (no matter if I like his personal life or not) and a coach that is this good....I kind of what them to win. BUT...not as much as I want the Magic to win!!!!! Rashard Lewis and a team that has NEVER won a championship???? Come on.... despite their poor showing last night, I am still behind them. I know they can bounce back. It was just nerves... yes..just nerves.

FINALLY......and it looks like Dishman Dodge had a bomb scare the other day. I can understand anger...but to want to physically hurt others? Yikes......violence is NOT the answer people!!!!

ok..have a fantastic weekend!!! I will be watching the French Open with total enthusiasm...even though it won't be a Williams sister in the finals and it won't be a Federer/Nadal rematch in the finals either. Also, basketball finals.....and all the other shows I have to catch up on that I missed during the week. ugghhh.....
